LOCAL COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS
Our Club's Board of Directors unanimously approved the establishment of the Santa Cruz Rotary Community Fund with $50,000 from the Club's general fund. Proceeds from all Club fundraisers are deposited into the Community Fund. The money is then disbursed to local non-profits that request our help.
Our first objective is to make charitable donations from this Community Fund. The goal is to build the Fund reserves so we don't rely upon new funding sources each year. Building the corpus enables the Club to continue donating to worthwhile local projects and to supplement ongoing fundraising activities.
Our second objective is to ensure that all contributions to the Community Fund are treated as I.R.S. approved charitable donations. The Santa Cruz Rotary Community Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. |
COWELL BEACH CLEANUPEach Monday morning, several Rotarians pick up trash on the Cowell and Main Beaches. We meet at 8am on the deck behind Ideal Fish, where the City provides buckets and trash grabbers. It's a chance to walk and talk for about an hour while doing some good for the environment. Just show up - even if you aren't a Rotarian!

RIVER WALK PROJECTOur Club has sponsored a riverwalk parklet at the intersection of Soquel and River Streets. We cleaned the plot and installed native plants as part of the city's watershed project.
